Pabst Mansion Announces $5 Million Capital Campaign During Pabst Family Reunion
Pabst Mansion proudly announces the launch of a $5 million capital campaign dedicated to preserving this iconic landmark for future generations. The campaign was unveiled during the Pabst family reunion at the Mansion, highlighting the family’s commitment to maintaining their legacy and Milwaukee’s rich history.
Pabst Mansion, a silent witness to Milwaukee’s remarkable growth and a testament to the dreams and ambitions that shaped our city, is more than just a historical building. It bridges the “Pabst,” present, and future, welcoming over 45,000 visitors each year who explore themes such as architecture, immigration, brewing history, fine art, technological innovation, domestic work, and Milwaukee during the Gilded Age.
A True Brick-and-Mortar Project
This capital campaign focuses on crucial repairs and preservation of the Mansion’s exterior, including bricks, mortar, and terra cotta elements. Designed by Ferry & Clas in the Flemish Renaissance Revival style, the Mansion’s exterior requires significant restoration to maintain its grandeur and historical integrity. Wisconsin’s harsh freeze-thaw cycle has taken a toll on the structure, leading to deterioration and water infiltration that threatens the lovingly restored interior.
Community Support and Participation
The campaign has already raised $1.5 million, thanks to the generous support from the Mansion’s Board of Directors, the Pabst Family, and other longtime supporters. Pabst Brewing Co. has also launched a supporting campaign, “Pints for Preservation,” where proceeds from kegs sold in the Milwaukee market will contribute to the restoration effort. Enjoying a pint of PBR is now a way to support this vital project.
A Once-in-a-Generation Project
This project represents once-in-a-generation expenses. The intricate craftsmanship required for the restoration work means few companies can undertake the project, but once completed, it will ensure that such extensive repairs will not be needed for another 50-70 years.
How to Contribute
Community members can support the campaign by donating directly to the Pabst Mansion. Your contributions will help ensure that future generations can enjoy and learn from this historic treasure.
